Superstar Afrobeats singer David Adeleke professionally known as Davido has taken to social media to react after losing his 3 Grammy nominations.
The 66th Grammy Awards was held last night February 4th 2024 at at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, United States of America.
It was a poor outing for Nigerian artistes, none of whom bagged an award at the 66th Grammy Awards.
Five artistes of Nigerian descent – David Adeleke, aka, Davido; Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy; Ahmed Ololade, aka Asake; Olamide Adedeji, aka Baddo; and Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr; all lost out of the Grammy in their combined 10 nominations across different award categories.
Note that Davido earned three Grammy nominations for the 2024 Grammy Awards. These nominations encompass Best Global Album for his latest release, “Timeless.”
Additionally, he is recognized in the categories of Best African Performance for his track “Unavailable” and Best Global Music Performance for his song “Feel.”
After losing his 3 Grammy nominations, Davido shakes of his loss and praises South African singer Tyla for winning her first Grammy Award.
She leapfrogs Davido, Asake, Ayra Starr, Olamide, Burna Boy to win Best African Performance at 2024 Grammys.
Taking to his verified page on X, Davido wrote; “Congratulations on your win @Tyllaaaaaaa ! Big One for africa! Keep soaring ! 🔥⭐️.”
