Former Super Eagles captain Mikel Obi finally sheds light on his fight with veteran singer 2Baba (Video)

Former Super Eagles captain John Mikel Obi has finally sheds light on his fight with veteran singer Innocent Idibia professionally known as 2Baba.

Recall it was rumoured some years back that Mikel Obi while playing with top English side Chelsea FC snubbed popular singer 2Baba when they met at a nightclub.

The news becomes one of the trending conversations online then and by extension many claimed that 2Baba’s hit song “Only Me” was a diss track aimed toward John Obi Mikel.

The widespread claim then was that the song was 2baba’s way of hitting out at Obi for his impudence.

2Baba, also debunked the speculation in an interview with Brila FM, saying he and Mikel were in good terms.

He said that such an incident never took place and that the song was not a diss track.

“At the time I did the song, Mikel had issues with his inability to show up for certain Super Eagles games.

“Then some very good rumour monger picked a line from my song as regards patriotism towards representing the National football team and ran with the story of a rift between us.

I spoke with Mikel on the phone and we had a good laugh about it”, stated the veteran singer

However, Mikel Obi, a father of two who announced his retirement from professional football on September 27, 2022 for the first time speaks on his fight with 2Baba.

Sharing a video of himself vibing to a song via his verified Instagram page on Sunday July 31st, 2023, Mikel wrote;  “When the music hits hard and you can’t get enough 🤩 Have a good Sunday my people.”

Taking to the comment section, a curious fan identified as xfranky22 asked the ex-football star if he truly snubbed 2Baba at a club in London.

He wrote; “Did you truly snubbed 2face on a club in London back in 06 ?”.

Responding, Mikel said he never snubbed 2Baba while adding that he is a big fan of the singer.

Mikel said; “no I never did. Am a big fan of his. So I wouldn’t do such a thing 😁 have a lovely day.”
