In a recent interview with Nigeria’s fast growing entertainment blog, Gbextra, North Carolina Fast Rising Artist, Courtney Houdini who reveals how she surpassed all odds and challenges to chase her dream.
Courtney Houdini aka “Trilla Badazz” also talks about life as a rising star in the U.S, lifestyle, motivation and also striving to create recognition for her brand.
Can we meet you?
Firstly, I wanna thank you for this amazing opportunity. My name is Courtney Houdini better known as “Trilla Badazz“, I was born in Mobile Alabama but was brought up in Greensboro North Carolina from time to time as of right now I am currently living in Gulfport Mississippi.
I am the fourth born out of six – both of our parents are dead and gone, I do consider myself blessed and highly favored and I also consider myself the golden child.
What inspire your passion for music?
What inspired me the most is my children and just living a better life, I fell in love with Music when I was 11 and I was a poet at first I turned into an artist when I moved to N.Carolina.
“Trilla Badazz” What inspire your stage name?
Growing up back then in my streets I always considered myself unstoppable & untouchable. I always went by (Trilla) I just put badazz into it to make it stand out and fit in with (UGK & Lil Boosie) at the time.
But deep down inside I really do feel I have special magical powers when it comes to writing music and I call on houdini for lyrics and Trilla badazz for support It’s way to deep to explain here.
When do you start chasing your dream? and what are your challenges?
Honestly I’ve been chasing my dreams for quite some time but it took for me to move to Gulfport Mississippi to really start realizing how challenging it is
and how much time/dedication and investment it takes to become an artist
What makes you unique among other artists?
What makes me unique is I’m not afraid to be myself I know how to deal with negative criticism very well. I say what I want and I know what it takes to be a true leader- i’m also not afraid to be a independent artist and support myself when needed.
As an artist, how to you manage your music career with your private life?
It gets real tough at times managing myself as an artist and I’m also a single mother of two and a student but I have so much passion for music so I make my time very valuable when it comes to maintaining my life.
Do you ever get nervous? tell us about your first experience in a show:
I just recently did a show in Biloxi Mississippi at a club called sensation January 12, 2019 and it’s been a very long time since I have done a show I was very nervous but I was able to put myself through with self positive talk and I actually got a Lot of love and respect that night and everyone love my energy so I was able to calm myself down.
What are your advice to youths?
I’ll advise all youths to remain in school no matter what it takes finish school go to college. You can be whatever you want to be Just finish school respect your elders and listen to your parents.
Do You Have Any Project You’re Currently Working On?
I’m currently working on my album “Da Golden Child” available in many online platforms asap.
Are you under any record label or Unsigned?
As of now I am an independent artists.
When Did You Release Your First Track? And How Many Songs Have Your Recorded?
I released my first track (Pop The Trunk) back in 2007, all together right now I say I have over 25+ songs currently working on many more.
Thats great. So, what inspire your music?
What is inspired me to write music is the pain struggles that I’ve been through.
What is your achievement so far?
I have it achieved to get all my music registered with the library of Congress I am working on my third album I have a big fan base I have a lot of supporters I get called for video shoots I get requested to perform people is also buying my music and I’m starting to get recognize.
Your dream project?
My dream project will be to work with T.I.
Who do you see as a role model, and who among these top acts do you wish to work with in future?
T.I he makes a good role model. And it will be a dream come true to have him on at least one of my songs.
