“I Was Bounced Out From Shows, Before Getting Recognition” – Rapper, FrankZeewy, In a recent interview with Nigeria’s fast rising rapper, Frank Zeewy, the talented rapper shares stories about his musical career, challenges, achievements and how people who believed in his dream show in support musically.

The sequelrecords frontliner, Frank Zeewy gives us an insight about his collaration with Nigeria’s sensational singer and Sensima crooner, skiibii Mayana and also how he got his inspirations.

Can we meet you?
I’m Ilufoye Faruq well known as “Frank Zeewy” born and bred in Osun State, Ijabe to be precise. Am a rapper and signed under sequel records entertainment.

What inspire your stage name “Frank Zeewy”?
Well, back then when i was a footballer people use to call me “Falcao” and people used the same after i switch been an artist. But i officially got the brand name “Frank Zeewy” in 2012 from Mutolizzy who happens to be a street brother. Before recording my first single “Rise above the cancer”.

When did you Start your career:
2009, I fell in love with music because my passion for it after getting addicted to it.

Your challenges so far? When I have not gotten a renowned recognition i was bounced out from shows, tho i dont usually have problem with recording financially because i have a producer as friend who belived in my dreams and always shows support for me with productions and other stuff.

When did record your first single?
Wow, that was in 2012 and it was titled “Rise Above The Cancer”. Actually “Rise Above The Cancer” was a street anthem and an inspirational tune produced by Black Prophet.

The song was basically a real life concept, where i had to express my challenges in the music world and how i got support from people who believed in my dream.

What are your Achievements so far:
Achievements? it all started after i got signed under sequel records imprints, recognitions and achievements started coming in, Some of my achievements so far was when i got the chance to perform on same stage with Top Artists in Nigeria the likes of Oladips, Chinko Ekun and Skiibii Mayana.

My performance was electrifying at “Club Acade” in Osogbo, as it caught the attention of Nigeria’s Super Star singer, Skiibii who promise me a free collaboration with him.

How many songs have you Recorded?
Have recorded many songs i barely remember the titles but few are; “Rise above the cancer” (2012)” Bowode (2014), Shutdown (2014), “Hustle (God bless my hustle)” ft S.I.D who happens to be the producer of the same song “Where i dey” a refix to YBNL boss, Olamide’s “Wey Dem Man” hit single.

Songs have recorded under sequel records are many, few are the likes of “Money”, “Case” (Cover), “Ja Joro”, “Gbefun”.

My debut single “Rise Above The Cancer” went viral with many controversies after people thought it was sang by YBNL boss, Olamide the song title was given by my street brother.

Case which happens to be a cover to Nigeria’s star singer, Teni Makanaki hit single in 2018, was motivated by Mr Dayo who happens to be Sequel Records boss and Artist Manager, Case (Cover) became a hit song after it was released and is now over 15 blogs and also getting massive acceptance nationwide.

Have you performed Live? tell us your first experience?
I started going to shows in 2011 before dropping my debut single “Rise Above The Cancer” my first live performance was challenging having low confidence performing in the crowd, i start performing at small shows like birthdays, street parties and carnivals.

After getting signed to Sequel Records i was restricted from going to small shows and the label started getting big shows for me.

Your Role model in the industry:
As a versatile artist i have many role models like Olamide, dremo, kizz Daniel, Wizkid.

My number one role model is Starboy label boss, Wizkid because of his style of music and his hit single “Hola at your boy” is still my favorite.

What makes you Unique Among Others?
Right from time have been unique with my style of music and passion i put in writing my lyrics which serve as real life content.

My fellow counterparts looks up to me because of my versatility and pattern of music been a rapper and singer. i think my uniqueness is my style of music and the passion i put to it.

Your Advice to Youths: Whatever you do, you should believe in your dreams regardless of any challenges, also put God first and be determined.

Top artist you would love to collaborate with?
Skiibii, Davido, Lyta, Kizz Daniel.

Where do you picture yourself in the Next 5years?
I want be well known in and out of Nigeria as a superstar artist and also creating a brand for myself.
