Maryam Adedoyin Apaokagi (born 28 February 1999) popularly known as Taaooma, is a 25 years old Nigerian comedian, content creator, actress, cinematographer and social media personality.

In 2019, she gained popularity for acting multiple roles and characters in her comedy videos. Same year, she won Best Online Comedian at The Gage Awards 2019.

Taaooma was born on the 28th of February in 1999 to a Muslim household. Her parents are Mr and Mrs Apaokagi.

She was born and raised in Nigeria but she spent some of her early years in Namibia. She hails from Kwara State and of the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria.

Taaooma‘s comedy career began in 2015. She had been encouraged by her boyfriend, Abdulaziz Oladimeji to pursue a career in the field.

After receiving lessons from her boyfriend on video editing, she released her first video, mimicking African parents. In 2016, her comedy skits began to gain traction as more people watched them.

She would finally achieve stardom after one of her comedy skits went viral. She had portrayed how African parents behaved when taking their children to school.

Her skits imitate how African mothers discipline their children with slaps. In 2018 Taaooma made her first money in Comedy when she was paid by a musician for Single promotion After then she started promoting and Advertising for companies and brands.

In her skits, Taaooma plays three key characters; occasionally, she performs all three at once. These are Taaoo (herself), Iya Taaoo (her mother), Baba Taaoo (her father), and Tayo (her brother).

She said: “I am not born with it and none of my family is a comedian, actor or actress, I met Greene Abdul Azeez Popularly Well known As Abula who is a Nigeria Music Video Director, I like him and his work then asked him to teach me how to Design a Birthday video and he promised to teach me even more than that

Abula told me if I really want to learn this Video Editing then I should start making a skit, but I didn’t have an idea of what to do and how to go about it, Then he started giving me a concept of mother and daughter (African Parent), that was how I started making a skit and learning Editing.

The journey was not easy for her at some point she wanted to give up, Abula traveled to Lagos and there was nobody to put her through or guide her, Taaooma started watching Youtube video to learn more about Video editing.”

Taaooma got married to her longtime partner, Abula, They exchanged vows in court in October 2020, and they got married on January 24, 2021.
