The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has shared the UTME result slip of Anambra student, Ejikeme Mmesoma with the public after she was alleged to have manipulated her result.
Ejikeme had denied the allegation made against her, saying her results notification slip showing a score of 362 was printed from JAMB’s results portal.
The examination board insisted her true score was 249 and that she is parading a result created using a template the board has not used since 2021.
The 19-year-old was seen in a video narrating how she obtained the result as she said she has been left traumatised by stories of forged results.
Meanwhile, JAMB’s spokesman, Fabian Benjamin, on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, questioned Ejikeme’s role in the alleged forgery. READ HERE
“If you look at her posture – look at the video very well, if you look at the video critically, you will see that somebody is coaching her on what to say. Just sit down and look at the video she posted yesterday,” he said.
He claimed that there are people behind the result forgery and those are the people the examination board is after.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has been involved in the handling of the case.
Benjamin continued by saying, “She just got it on the street and mutilated those things. It’s not taking her anywhere. Even if you go to the school that she chose, that result is not there,”
“But what we’re doing is just to protect the interest of the public out there, otherwise on our system, there is nothing like that showing there. Nobody has compromised our system, our system is intact”.
Benjamin further revealed that some individuals had begun creating fake results to redicule JAMB.
“Funny enough, as I was coming here, somebody even called me that a candidate is parading another result that he scored 400 over 400. You can see that they’re making jest of the whole thing, having this slip and mutilating it,” he said.
The JAMB spokesman went ahead to say the exam body wants to be a part of the process Governor Soludo of Anambra has set up to inquire into the matter.
“We are interested. I’ve sent a message to the Commissioner of Education that ‘please, invite us.’ We’ll come with all the facts. And we want to appeal to Airtel to also appear because Airtel has all the communications, the interactions between this candidate and JAMB on the phone.
“And if the candidate will be sincere to bring her phone, you can see those transactions, dates are there. If you had gone further, you would have seen that, yesterday, she also printed the result,” Benjamin said.
