Tell us about you, when you start music n what inspired you to do music?
I’m by the name AKEREDOLU ISRAEL IFEOLUWA, I’m from OYO state, Ibadan to be precise.

I was born into a music family so I can say have always been in love with music since I was young, and I do freestyles with my brothers EL-NINO and KING BLACQ (BLACQDEAL).

Then I started writing rhyme’s then graduated into writing a full song’s till I came across a DIPOLINA (now know as SOUNDFRESH) a producer on my search for recording studio. Then I recorded my first single titled “KAMUJO” in 2013.

What inspired your stage name “IS REAL”?
My stage name is straight from my real name ISRAEL, when I was young I can barely spell my name correctly so I put ‘E’ before ‘A’ must times, my friends do make fun of me and they pronounce my name as IS-REAL Instead of ISRAEL.

So I adopt it as my stage name. Sometimes ago i added JAGABAN to my stage name immediately after my second track titled “YOUNG JAGABAN CYPHER” even before Ycee adopt the name.

But unfortunately i had to remove it immediately Ycee blew up with his hit track “JAGABAN” and had OLAMIDE on the remix. So i stick with IS REAL.

As a rising Nigerian rapper, what are the challenges you’ve encountered so far?
It’s not really easy to be a rising Nigerian rapper to be sincere. Like begging to perform in a show, and still get trashed out, have once paid to perform at a show and waited all night but was not chanced to perform.

A lot of time I have to walk back home at the end of a free show. Producers giving body heat. Had to turn studio rat for some producers to be allowed to record.

Recently, you guys were shortlisted for #MonsterChallenge and were the only indigenous rappers among the top 8. Do you think indigenous (Ibile) rap or rap genre can be revived in the Nigerian Music industry?
Yes, Indigenous rap is doing great in Nigeria and with more and right energy I believe Rap in general can be revived in Nigeria and ibile (indigenous rap) will make a great impact reviving it.
