Popular Nigerian singer Rema has taken to social media to react as his song Calm Down Remix becomes the first Afrobeats song to hit a billion streams.
Rema has finally joined the billions club on streaming platform, Spotify following the remix of his hit single “Calm Down” featuring American singer Selena Gomez.
This achievement marks the first time an African artist–led track has racked up a billion streams on Spotify. And Rema is a worthy champion, as one of the top 10 most-streamed Afrobeats artists on the platform.
Taking to his verified Instagram page today, September 11th 2023, Rema beams with so much joy following his latest feat.
Singer Rema further thanks Selena Gomez and her team, as well as everyone involved in making the “Calm Down” remix a global success.
