Mrs. Falilat Olaonipekun, the mother of late Nigerian rapper Oladapo Olaitan Olanipekun professionally known as Dagrin, recently lamented the unjust withholding of her son’s hard-earned royalties by his management team.
Media personality Baba Egbe and music promoter Kogbagidi recently organized a meeting with Dagrin’s mother and her associates to discuss her general welfare and the complex issue of her late son’s royalties.
When asked about any updates on Dagrin’s royalties and whether she had received any, she responded negatively, indicating that she has not been granted her late son’s music royalties.
Elaborating on the issue, she recounted a recent conversation with Dagrin’s management, during which they informed her that they are awaiting payment from a revenue source and are delaying the transfer of funds until the transaction is completed.
In the video, Dagrin’s mother displayed the paperwork provided by the management team, holding it aloft as a tangible reminder of the promise made but not yet fulfilled.
Within its pages was an explicit commitment to a specific amount that had yet to be disbursed. Reflecting on the assurances given, she expressed her anticipation for the promised response from the management.
She recalled that her last interaction with them was in December 2023, lamenting the silence that had followed. Baba Egbe assured her of his commitment to the cause, pledging to enlist the services of an experienced music lawyer to advocate on her behalf against the management team.
Amidst the discussions, the conversation shifted to her stalled house project, with Baba Egbe and Kogbagidi expressing a keen interest in its progress.
They also discussed plans to involve Dagrin’s father in the meeting, but regrettably, unforeseen circumstances prevented him from attending.
