‘Fear of prison’ – Nigerians mock James Brown as he denies being a crossdresser

James Brown denies being a crossdresser

Nigerians have mocked self acclaimed Princess of Africa, James Brown after denying being a crossdresser following a proposed bill by the House of Representatives.

On Tuesday House of Representatives moved to ban cross-dressing in the country, following a new bill proposed by a member of the house, Umar Muda.

The bill, which was read aloud on the House floor on Tuesday, April 5, seeks to outlaw cross-dressing, except for individuals who do it for amusement.

The bill proposes to alter the 2013 Same-Sxx Marriage (Prohibition) Act by inserting cross-dressing as one of the act’s offences. If passed into law, crossdressers such as Bobrisky, James Brown and others risk six months of imprisonment.

Reacting after some fans expressed concern for him, James Brown said in a post shared on Instagram that he finds it disrespectful to be called a crossdresser.

According to James Brown, he had never been a crossdresser but a skit maker/entertainer, and he is not limited to what he wears.

He wrote: “Please y’all I think you are mistaken things by tagging the CEO of Starrrr all over blogs to be taken to prison and my brand found this so disrespectful because I am not a crossdresser, I have never been a crossdresser, I am a skit maker/entertainer and entertainers are not limited to what to wear until now thanks to y’all for understanding.”
