Burna Boy pays heartwarming tribute to Wizkid’s late mum at US concert (VIDEO)

Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has paid tribute to Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of his colleague, Wizkid, who passed away recently.

Recall, Wizkid’s mum Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun died on Friday, 18th August 2023. Since her death was announced, celebrities and public figures have flooded the social media space with condolence messages to singer, Wizkid and his family.

However, Burna Boy took it to a new level after pausing his set at the Afronation Fest in Detroit, United States, to pay tribute to the late Mrs. Balogun.

He commanded the crowd to observe a minute silence for the late mother of the Starboy boss, before proceeding to sing a line from his collaborative song with Wizkid, ‘Ginger.’

In his words: “Before I move on, some news came to my ears not long ago. One of my brothers lost his mum, Wizkid. I want to say rest in peace to Wizkid’s mum, I can’t imagine how it would be to lose my mum, that would be the end of me.”

Since her death was announced, celebrities and public figures have flooded the social media space with condolence messages to singer, Wizkid and his family.

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, wrote: “On behalf of the OBIdient family, I sincerely commiserate with Mr Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, (Wizkid), who reportedly lost his beloved mother. The death of a loved one is a very painful experience, more so a beloved mother.”

In his condolence message shared on Twitter, Davido said: “Praying for you my brother @wizkidayo. Sadness flies away on the wings of time.”
