Nigerian veteran Hip Hop star, MI Abaga has revealed that he was turned down when he requested a one on one meeting with American rapper, Rick Ross.
Rick Ross is currently in Nigeria for an Easter concert tagged; ‘Rick Ross Live In Lagos’ and since his arrival, he has been having meet and greet sessions with Nigerian celebs.
According to MI, he got an invitation to meet the Maybach music boss, and asked if they could meet in private but his request got turned down.
Meanwhile, in 2017 he had openly requested for a collaboration with the American music star, and is yet to get a response.
The ‘Bad Belle’ hit-maker further stated via his Twitter account that the Afrobeats industry would not respect Hip Hop in Nigeria due to some complicated reasons.
In his words; ”Lastly .. I was invited to meet Rick Ross.. I responded by saying if I could do it one on one. Ofcourse they declined.. the afrobeats industry will not respect Hiphop just because.. that’s fine. Let’s accept it as what it is and make GREAT MUSIC FOR THE ONES who do care
That’s how I created the wave the first time!!! Every single time I gave them music I never cheated them.. I made classic after classic and am relentless still.. the guy is my best album yet coming soon! Classic.. give your best and the music will grow!”.
