Intellectual Theft: Blackface accuses Burna Boy, Asake and Wizkid of copying his song (Video)

Nigerian ace singer, Blackface has accused his junior colleagues, Wizkid, Burna Boy, and Asake of intellectual property theft.

The musician, best known for his hit song “Ghetto Child,” said that the trio had copied his songs without his consent during an interview with Naija FM in Lagos.

According to Blackface, the rhythm, tempo, and beginning and conclusion of on the melody of Wizkid and Burna Boy’s song “Ginger” are very similar to those in his single “Twist & Turn.” Only the verses, he saw, had been changed.

Additionally, Blackface claimed that Asake sampled his song “Ikebe Supa” in “Joha” and claimed that he is an influence to these musicians.

The veteran singer who formerly called out 2Face Idibia made it clear that while he does not object to new musicians sampling his work, he has a problem with the lack of authorization and appropriate credit.

He said; “Ginger’ by Wizkid and Burna Boy is a sample of my track ‘Twist & Turn’; the rhythms, the beat, how the melody starts and ends. Na only the verses dem change. Asake’s ‘Joha’ is a sample of my song ‘Ikebe Supa.’ I dey inspire them”.

“Young ones dey get inspiration from my music. The first person wey sample my music na Wizkid when he do ‘Baby girl I like the way you whine it.’ When I release these records, dem go find the one wey dem like and dem go turn am to their own,” he said in part.
